A Beautiful Adoption Story By Olga And Johan

“We are Ministry of Cat fan and go there a couple of times a week. Obviously, we love cats (and good food) and everything this café represents. One morning my husband Johan surprised me by asking how I’d feel about adopting Benjamin.

Benjamin literally crossed my path on my first outreach mission with Animal Rescue Cambodia, where I volunteer for. Thanks to months of dedicated care by ARC staff Benjamin (now named Leo) was finally ready to join the cat paradise which Ministry of Cat is. It is there where my husband fell in love with him. Leo found his way into the heart of a man who said many times he did not want to have pets here in Cambodia. Adopting a cat via Ministry of Cat is such a happy experience. You can have as much time as you want with the cat you are planning to adopt and Georgia and Adolfo can provide a lot of information regarding cat care and little quirks they got to know about your cat.

As Leo is a special needs cat with his three legs, no tail and pica (the desire to eat non-edible items, in his case fabric) the founder of ARC also joined the adoption interview. We were giving useful tips on how to deal with this and adopting a playful kitten would definitely help Leo to keep him distracted from wanting to eat fabric.

So that day we brought two cats home! They are with us for over two months now and we love every day with them. Leo and Marie-Sophie play together all.the.time which is so fun to watch that our screen time went down by 75%! They follow us around wherever we go and when we come home, Leo comes running towards us happy like a dog.

Our time in Cambodia is unfortunately ending and of course our cats come with us to Europe. We are using the information provided in the Ministry of Cat blog to take the proper steps to make their immigration go smoothly. I am going to miss Cambodia so much but I am so happy we are taking a little bit of Cambodia home with us.”
